Rick Newstrom, CCA Instructor

Rick Newstrom has 24 years of experience in night club security, private security, private investigation, close personal protection and fugitive recovery.  He has been a NRA Pistol Instructor for 22 years and taught thousands of individuals in the state carry classes of Florida and Minnesota before recently moving to Tennessee.

Rick has taken numerous security related classes from Mid-Florida Technical School in Orlando.  He has trained extensively with U.S. Special Forces operators in close quarter combat techniques.  He has been an accomplished student in several forms of martial arts.  Rick has been an avid shooter, hunter, and MN Department of Natural Resources Hunter Safety Instructor.

Rick spent 17 years as a public school teacher at the Robbinsdale Area Schools in Minnesota.  He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Studies and a Masters Degree in Economic Education from St. Cloud State University

Rick has won curriculum writing contests on the state and national levels.  He also served as the Robbinsdale Area Schools Energy Manager and Director of Security.  There he was in charge of 28 buildings and wrote the district's emergency procedures manual.

You will find Rick to be very knowledgeable, earnest and easy to relate to in the classroom.  He will keep things interesting and well paced with a variety of teaching techniques.

Eric L. Matson, Tactical Advantage Corp.

Eric is a retired Wisconsin law enforcement officer and currently a Special Deputy in Tennessee with over 25 years of experience in Corrections, Patrol, Investigations, Narcotics Investigator and Tactical Team Leader.

He also served as a tactics instructor and department range master/firearms instructor and has taught courses for several colleges. He teaches basic marksmanship, Multiple NRA Courses, Tactical Handgun, Security Guard Armed and Un-armed, Basic and Advanced SWAT, Response to Active Shooter, Tennessee Carry Permit Course, Patrol Tactics, Train the Trainer Courses in addition to designing and implementing a SWAT Instructor Course. He is a Wisconsin certified Police Instructor, NRA Certified Instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer, Simunitions/Air-soft Instructor, Tactical Instructor and his curriculums have been POST certified in Tennessee and Mississippi.

Eric is founder and president of Tactical Advantage Corp. and TAC Training Academy. He is member of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Officers Association, NRA and founder of the Midwest Tactical Officers Association.

Eric specializes in handguns, close quarters tactics and room clearing.

Larry "Oz" Osborn, Instructor

Larry "Oz" Osborn is an active duty Tennessee law enforcement officer and a retired D.O.E. Security Specialist with over 30+ years of experience in patrol, security, special operations and Special Response Team Leader.

Oz teaches basic marksmanship, NRA Refuse to Be a Victim, Response to Active Shooter, Low Light, Tactical Rifle/Shotgun and advanced handgun techniques.

He is a certified Law Enforcement Instructor, NRA Certified Instructor, Tennessee POST Law Enforcement Training Academy Firearms Instructor, Simunitions/Air-soft Instructor, STOPS Instructor, and Tactical Instructor.

Larry is active in the training of Tennessee Law Enforcement and an active member of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Officers Association.

Oz is a authority on patrol rifles, patrol shotguns and room clearing operations.

Mark Coffey, Instructor

Sgt. Mark Coffey is an active duty certified Tennessee law enforcement officer with over 27 years of experience in patrol, investigations and narcotics.

He teaches basic marksmanship, home and business awareness, survival tactics, and advanced handgun techniques, in addition to designing and implementing Spanish for Law Enforcement program.

Additionally, Mark is an FBI certified Police Instructor, NRA Certified Instructor, Tennessee POST Terrorism/Counter Terrorism Instructor, Tennessee POST Law Enforcement Training Academy Firearms Instructor, Simunitions/Air-soft Instructor, STOPS Instructor, Tactical Narcotics Officer Instructor.

Mark is a specialist with a revolver and close quarters tactics.

Robert "Bob" Beane

Robert "Bob" Beane is an avid pistol shooter and a Chief NRA Range Safety Officer in the Oak Ridge Tennessee area.

He teaches basic marksmanship, NRA Basic Pistol, Tennessee Carry Permit Course, NRA Range Safety Officer, NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course, NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home Course and How to Carry Concealed.

He is a NRA certified Instructor, and a Tennessee Certified Carry Permit Instructor.

Bob is a dedicated instructor and provides high quality training to new experienced shooters.

Leo Torres, Armed Guard Instructor

In brief, Leo Torres has an extensive background in Law Enforcement, and in various levels of Retail Security.  Mr. Torres is a retired US Army CID Special Agent, and a retired Retail Loss Prevention Manager.  He is currently a Tennessee Certified Firearms Trainer, under the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance (TDCI), and is also certified by the Tennessee Department of Safety (TDOS) as a Handgun Safety Instructor, License 193-90-3100.

His private security experience began in 1987, while residing in Houston, TX.  His security license included serving as a Security Classroom Instructor, and Firearms Instructor.  He occupied positions as Senior Instructor, Private Investigator, Assistant Director of a Security School, and Campus Commander (Director) of a Security School.
