Q: What is required to get your handgun carry
permit?
A: You are required to take an 8 hour state approved
course that teaches the laws of carry in the state of Tennessee.
The cost of the course that you
will take here at the store is $90.00.
Upon completing the course you will receive a certificate that
you will take down to your local department of motor vehicles.
Down at the DMV they will charge you $115.00 for a 4 year
license and will take your photograph.
After you complete the appropriate paperwork there they will
send you to a location to get fingerprinted. After you
complete all of the above you will receive your license in
approximately 3 months in the mail
Q: Can you sign up for classes over the phone
or on the internet?
A: As of right now you are not able to sign up
for classes over the phone or on the internet. You need to
come into the store in person and sign up for the class you are
interested in taking. If there are multiple people that
are interested in signing up you may pay for multiple people if
you wish, all that is needed is payment upfront to reserve your
spot for the class.
Q: Do you have a lay-a-way plan?
A: Our layaway plan is 25% down on the total cost
of the gun, background check, and all applicable tax. You
are required to pay the remaining balance within 30 days of
initial lay-a-way agreement. We do
not hold guns for any reason besides guns that are put on
lay-a-way.
Q: How do I transfer a firearm in and use your
FFL to receive it?
A: The first thing
you need to to is to purchase the firearm that you are wanting
to get transferred in, we cannot do anything until the firearm
has been purchased. If you purchased the firearm from a
dealer, you need to contact us with their fax number, along with
the first 3 and the last 5 numbers of their FFL license number
(for FFL verification), and then we will send them a copy
of our FFL. If you purchased the gun from an individual,
they do not need a copy of our FFL
to send the firearm to us, nor will we send one to them.
Individuals need to include a legible photocopy of their drivers
license in the package when they send
the gun to us. You need to get a tracking number from
the company or individual that sent the firearm, we do not alert
you when your gun has arrived so it is your responsibility to
know where it is and when it gets here. Once you see the firearm has been
received by Coal Creek Armory, give us 1-2 days for processing and then
you may pick up the gun at your convenience. The cost of
transferring a gun to our FFL varies depending on what kind of
gun is being transferred. The normal transfer fee is
$30.00 per firearm, however, if the firearm that is being
transferred is in stock at our store, or is easily obtainable
through our distributers, then there will be a $50.00 transfer
fee. If you have any questions about your transfer, please
call us at 865-966-4545 prior to purchase.
Q: Are you selling handgun ammo to the general
public?
A: At this time we are selling a few of the
easier to find calibers in limited supply to the general public,
limiting to one box per.
The harder to find calibers are reserved for range use only
right now, and are not sold out the door. As ammo becomes
more plentiful we will began selling more out the door.
